YOU don’t need to be a time traveller to appreciate Stephen Lewis’ Yesterday Once More (The Press, February 1).

I revisited a past where in the 1970s two of the Morris men depicted (John Lundie and John Harper) were my work colleagues at Rowntrees. They were obviously enjoying an away day from work.

Then suddenly more memories surfaced when as a young lad I was smuggled into the pub in Jubbergate. The picture depicts Grandma Batty’s Yorkshire Pudding Emporium, but although the building has not changed very much, my memory was the 1960s and I was a young British Sub Aqua Club diver.

Among the swirling pub smoke we were at the coal face of new adventures as we re-evaluated our latest dive among the sea monsters of the deep.

As their mascot, I usually was the one who was thrown to the fishes to see if the sea was friendly or not.

Many thanks Stephen for giving me such lovely memories.
