THIS is a golden opportunity for the city fathers to ensure that George Hudson, The Railway King, is properly commemorated by naming the Teardrop site as the George Hudson Centre.
For the past 175 years, York’s development has been largely due to the foresight of this much-maligned son of the city.
He certainly was not the villain that some would try to foster. He never robbed any individual and was never charged with any criminal offence.
His efforts have proved to be the making of York’s industry, tourism and now this latest development site.
Come on City of York Council, do the proper and decent thing and attribute the credit to where it is truly due.
