WITH regards to Miles Salter’s review “Stars of the past don’t quite hit the mark” (The Press, November 16).

I wonder, why do these reviewers actually go to see acts if they can only give negative reviews?

I was at the Go West, Nik Kershaw and Carol Decker performance on November 14 and it was fantastic. I’m sure I am speaking for everyone who was on their feet dancing for most of the night.

Carol Decker, apparently according to Miles has “retained both her looks and powerful voice”. However, he thought Nik Kershaw “is now grey-haired and approaching 60” (they are all approaching 60 and has he never heard of hair dye?).

He also thought “the blokes from Go West must be bored to tears by now” due to playing “rather inane synth-soul and unremarkable melodies”.

That’s his opinion. Maybe true.

The majority of people at the Grand Opera House would totally disagree with this review. The reason why we were all there was to enjoy songs from our youth, the 80s.

The cover versions were also great. A really fantastic night was had by all.

Miles compares this performance with that of The Water Boys the night before, two totally different events and audiences. I know which performance I would prefer to see.
