CONGRATULATIONS to the England cricket team on regaining the Ashes 33-2 in a topsy-turvy series under the captaincy of Alastair Cook.

It has proved that no man is indispensable and there is no 'i' in team by winning minus Kevin Pietersen.

Before and throughout the series the captain has been unfairly criticised. My criticism is not with the captain, but with the England players for their total disrespect towards him by referring to him as "Cookie".

In my opinion, he should be addressed as captain, skipper, skip or Alastair. In the days of the amateur captain, he would have been referred to as Mister, or in the case of Lord Hawke, his lordship.

This same criticism applies to the Yorkshire team, who refer to Andrew Gale as "Galey".

England have some good young and talented players for the future, but they could benefit by listening to the wisdom and experience of Geoffrey Boycott.

Good luck for the future and be proud to wear your caps and sweaters bearing the crown and the three lions.
