WHILE taking a breather when out riding my bike, I sat opposite the London Road filling station, near the Park&Ride.
Many vehicles, during my 30-minute rest, found themselves in the “wrong” lane, wanting to go to York but finding themselves at the last minute heading towards Bishopthorpe, turning right and having to cut back into the left lane at the last minute.
As you can see from my photograph, the markings on the road junction are very confusing.
Turn left to go to York down Tadcaster Road, and straight on to Bishopthorpe, only the “straight on” road does not exist, if it did it would go into York College.
It is in fact a “right turn” towards Bishopthorpe, but further confusion, as you can see, there is a sign “no right turn”.
The sign “no right turn” I guess means in effect “no u-turn” towards the filling station.
I would suggest if anyone at the council sees this letter, then have a ride out and look for yourself.
Just pretend you are a visitor to York and follow the signs.
Then please get out your pot of paint and make it clearer.
