I DON’T know where the York Central MP Rachael Maskell stands on this, but there is something rather refreshing, and British, in that the rank outsider, Jeremy Corbyn, is leading the Labour Party leadership contest, to confound all the politicians and pundits.

The fact that all Jeremy Corbyn’s venues are attended to full capacity, reflects political unrest under the surface that has been repressed, but is now moving like the oceanic plates.

The fact is that for many years, the working population of this country have not been represented. For the young of this country there is a very difficult future ahead, so perhaps they see something in Corbyn that they can identify with? There’s lots for a Labour opposition to fight for if they get their act together and end this leadership crisis and shambles. Instead, there’s no one to denounce the fact that the top ten UK CEOs collectively earned £156,000,000 for the last year, led by Sir Martin Sorrell at £42.9 M, as the gap between rich and poor goes inexorably wider.

Maybe it’s time for some fire-in-the-belly politics instead of the platitudinous style we’ve had to endure for so long. Are Burnham, Kendall, Cooper and Corbyn made of the “right stuff” to be leader and a possible prime minister? None of them seem to be old “bruisers” like George Brown and Denis Healey.
