THE article regarding Kings Square parking (The Press, July 15) coincides nicely with the letter from Peter Turner regarding cyclists (Letters, July 15).
There is a relatively simple solution and that is for City of York Council to enforce the existing traffic regulations.
Between 10.30am and 5pm, the city centre is ringed by signs indicating a “Pedestrian Zone”.
With few exceptions no vehicles are allowed and bicycles must be walked (are cyclists aware?).
The exception, in a few locations such as Goodramgate, is for disabled Blue Badge holders.
However, it never ceases to amaze me how many delivery van and taxi drivers must have these badges judging by the numbers ignoring the Goodramgate restriction.
If they need a Blue Badge, how do they carry out their duties?
Enforce this restriction and cars/vans would not have access to park in Kings Square.
