IN HIS letter of May 18, Keith Thornton attempts to debunk my correspondence of May 15.

Mr Thornton falls into the trap of using cheap political jibes to support the unsupportable posh politics of the Tory party, whose cabinet is made up almost totally of privately educated multi-millionaires who are completely out of touch with reality and the real needs of society (despite the election).

As to other parties and their quotas of privately educated politicians, you’ll be pleased to know that I regard all such people whether ‘blue’ or ‘red’ with a similar scepticism and disdain.

Oh, and by the way – it is a fact that it was the previous Tory-led Coalition government (not the Labour party) that destroyed much of our public services (eg libraries), diluted health and safety at work legislation, introduced the nasty and selfish bedroom tax, and continually undermined both the NHS and police infrastructure between 2010 and 2015 (with the worst yet to come).

So with this in mind, no amount of sniping from the blue-blinkered Mr Thornton is going to erase that ultimate truth.

Oh, and by the way, Mr Thornton may be interested to know that I voted Green in the General Election, not red.

Mr H Griffiths, Littledale, Pickering.
