I THINK Mr H Griffiths should remove his red blinkers (Letters, May 15).
His memory appears to be failing him as he forgets to mention that the recent General Election was also reported on by the left-wing press, i.e. The Guardian and the Daily Mirror, and if he thinks the BBC is right-wing he obviously doesn’t watch Newsnight, where most of the reporters have worked for The Guardian in the past.
I would point out to Mr Griffiths that two of the Labour MPs seeking to become leader of the Labour Party –Yvette Cooper and Tristram Hunt – all went to fee-paying schools as did Tony Blair and Harriet Harman.
As to accusing the Coalition Government of dismantling the public services, the last Labour Government were well on track to do just that all by themselves, but ran out of money – as usual.
The Conservative victory was due to the votes of the “silent sensible” people who have had enough of madcap left-wing policies, put forward by the unions and people like Ken Livingstone.
I’m happy for the Labour Party to live in the past, it means they’ll never be in government.
