IN VIEW of the amount of publicity and photographs published in The Press it would seem that everyone was all for the Tour de Yorkshire, but not everyone wants this.
The whole city centre being closed to traffic especially on a Saturday, a busy day, when locals and tourist alike are trying to go about their usual business, hobbies and events.
Some weeks ago I booked a coach trip on that same Saturday only to be told the day before that it had to been cancelled because the coach company could not get into the centre of York to pick up passengers. Really this is not acceptable.
If we have to have this invasion of bicycles over the next ten years, please consider how many residents you are upsetting when you close the city centre and the costs involved for road maintenance, etc.
Perhaps now is the time to introduce a bicycle road tax?
