WHAT has the council done to the York farmers’ market? There was, this time last year, a vibrant market with plenty to see and buy.
There was a chance to talk to the stall holders and find out where the produce came from. It was a pleasure.
The last market took a lot of finding. I was appalled to find so few stalls, questions were asked and I must congratulate those producers who are trying to keep up the momentum.
There are around the country so many of these gems.
How do we educate our children on where things come from and how things are grown and what they really do look like in their raw state.
Farmers’ markets deserve to be a feature of any town or city – just ask Malton, the-up-and-coming area.
If this indeed is not happening in Shambles Market, there must be something wrong.
Come on, City of York Council, make the market a successful one as it used to be – make it a reason for people to come to York.
Mrs P Kendall, Alne, York.
