OH DEAR, yet again Heather Causnett (Letters, April 22) lays all the blame for poor parenting on the mothers, no mention of the role fathers can and usually do play.

It is insulting to imply that their presence or absence makes no difference.

Every child has two parents, and it is reasonable to expect that both play a significant part in raising their children.

As well as being a breadwinner, most fathers are each child’s much-loved daddy.

Please, if we have to criticise, can we be more even handed and include fathers who fail or abandon their families.

Pamela Brown, Goodwood Grove, York.
