LAST week I had cause to use Rougier Street bus shelter. It is a disgrace to York and embarrassing and humiliating experience for visitors and residents.

On Wednesday, a group of young teenagers ( both sexes) between 12 and 16 years old, some with bicycles, were obviously having a meeting among themselves to see who could shout and swear the loudest. They were also smoking (in a no smoking area), and bicycles were strewn around.

The public waiting for buses had to stand outside the insurance offices for safety.

On Saturday, as my bus was coming into Rougier Street, adult males were urinating up the wall, along with three drunken men on the seats.

The bus I was on was a Park and Ride so most people were visitors to the city, coming to see how lovely York is.

I decided that I would find a local police officer, but with great difficulty.

However, I came across two together, but they couldn’t help because they had been brought in from Ripon to control the crowds going to the football match – but they would pass my message on.

So come on York council/police, do something to sort this embarrassing site out.
