THE good news about York’s schools’ inspection outcomes is extremely welcome (The Press, March 20). Congratulations to the staff, students, parents and governors.
One other positive trend for the future is the doubling of the proportion of students in the York Central constituency taking on the English Baccalaureate – the core academic subjects.
Introducing the EBacc has raised ambitions and meant more children are getting the best qualifications for their futures. I went to a comprehensive that offered proper subjects – all children should have the same opportunity.
