IT IS more than interesting how Rodger Westmorland (Letters, March 18) continues to surface to give us all an armchair lesson in current international foreign policy, the legal system of this country and, more recently, the abridged version of Bomber Command and its participants in the Second World War.

The great value of his comments lies not in the content of what he writes, but in the fact that he lives in a society where, within reason, he can think and through your columns say what he likes.

Let us not forget though, as Mr Westmorland can testify, being an expert in this field, that human nature does allow history to repeat itself.

So while I applaud his freedom of speech, I would caution against allowing any organisation taking advantage of our democratic society by freely promoting violence and terrorism.

Hitler took power in Germany by democratic means.

I would guess, Mr Westmorland, that the true horrors of ISIS are yet to be uncovered. We may then be able to deny them, as some do the Holocaust.
