AFTER watching yet another dismal home performance by York City FC, I found the night was made even worse when on leaving the ground the home supporters were barred by the police from proceeding down Grosvenor Road either to walk home or to get to their cars, which in my case was parked in Avenue Road.

The reason given was that during the game the away supporters had been causing trouble, so because of this the well-behaved home supporters were being diverted away from Grosvenor Road.

To get to my car, I had to go via Newborough Street, Shipton Street and Burton Stone Lane, and arrived home 15 minutes later than normal.

Would it not have been better if the police had kept the 414 away fans in the ground until the well-behaved 2,780 home supporters had got away, or was it because the police wanted to get away as soon as possible?

Can I also point out that they might also have spent some time looking at the vehicle which has been illegally parked in Avenue Road since before February 28, in which time it has collected nine parking tickets.

Why has the warden who put these tickets on the car not reported it to the police, as the car could have been stolen and dumped, or is the warden on a bonus scheme for the number of tickets issued?
