NICK Emmerson (Letters, March 2) certainly has a great saving on his energy bill by going through the scheme in conjunction with City of York Council.
We signed up to see what our savings would be as our fixed rate time expired on February 28 and we were told our estimated amount of saving would be £203.
That looked pretty good.
However, hedging our bets, we contacted our current supplier to see if they could either match or better that.
We had a lovely surprise when we were told, based on our last year’s usage and accounts, our savings would be around £335, fixed until May 31, 2016 – and if there was a better deal available during the course of the year, we would be told and switched.
That seemed very reasonable so we decided to stick with them.
Had we not checked with them, we would probably have changed to the winning supplier with the council.
