SO the Conservative candidate for York Central really does exist (Letter from Robert McIlveen, Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for York Central, February 21).
I was thinking he was a figment of Conservative Head Office imagination as his appearances in York have been negligible.
In writing to The Press about Labour selecting a “parachuted union official”, he totally ignores the fact that more than 300 Labour members in the York Central constituency cast their votes in a democratic ballot against a shortlist of three very good candidates, and they chose Rachael Maskell.
Rachael lived in York prior to Hugh Bayley deciding to stand down and no-one knew it would be an all women selection until after Hugh’s announcement. That doesn’t seem like parachuting.
