HAVING worked on wards at York District Hospital I saw for myself at first hand the hard work and dedication each day of the nursing staff and the care they showed to all patients regardless of personal sacrifice.
I therefore believe very strongly that MP pay rises should be linked to those of other civil servants, nurses, police, firemen and so on.To be even considering a ten per cent hike when these groups have been starved of increases for years shows a lack of consideration and leadership responsibilit.
With the General Election due in May it would be nice if one or other of the parties acted on this. How A&E staff coped with the latest crisis was admirable to say the least.
