READING the Civic Trust’s recommendations on how to clean up the city (The Press, February 26) one section of the report baffled me.

I refer to the statement that “the exit from York Station for pedestrians is awful”. I would have thought that pedestrians have a wonderful exit from York Station. If one turns right they have a zebra crossing leading to a controlled pedestrian crossing, if they turn left they have three zebra crossings leading to yet another controlled pedestrian crossing.

What more do they want, a bridge over to the other side? What is more important is the flow of traffic, or at most times the lack of the flow of traffic since the council introduced the traffic flow round Tea Room Square. The drivers of all vehicles are met with the aforementioned pedestrians using any one of the three zebra crossings.
