LAST week, Michael Fallon warned of the dangers posed by Putin’s Russia.

I wonder if anybody else has recognised the similarities between the 1930s and today? In the 1930s, large parts of the world were in recession – same as today.

Hitler came to power and tried to rebuild Germany by mass manufacturing arms and weapons; same as Russia today.

The Nazis fine-tuned their war skills in the Spanish Civil War; same is Russia in Ukraine today. Then Hitler invaded countries claiming he was only interested in defending German people in lands no longer under German control. Same as Putin today – watch out Baltic States.

Hitler then declared he had no further territorial demands and Britain spent less and less on defence.

Putin hasn’t used this phrase yet, but Britain is sleepwalking into not being in a position to defend itself and the SNP have openly declared that their price for supporting Labour in a coalition would include the complete removal of our nuclear deterrent, including Trident and nuclear submarines.

Russian war planes are testing our air defence response times with incursions in and around UK air space. It’s 1939 all over again but with more dangerous weapons.
