WITH reference the report of February 23 about the investigation works at Clifford's Tower, I note that English Heritage say: "We know how important the daffodils are to the history and visual attraction of Clifford's Tower and would like to emphasise our commitment to preserve them ...."

I am sure I am not alone in finding this statement questionable when little seems to have been done to prevent the erosion of the grass banks by those people who climb the banks.

The signage asking people not the climb on the grass seems inadequate and surely some form of suitable barrier could be installed to protect the banks.

Over recent years the display of spring daffodils on Clifford's Tower has been badly affected and one of York's best-loved attractions is being slowly destroyed.

Can English Heritage and City of York Council get together to prevent this?
