The Grand de Party was a flagrant waste of public money. The party thrown to celebrate the Tour de France lost £187,000 of York residents money through poor organisation. It was a shambolic event.
The Tour de France was a golden opportunity for York to establish itself as a hub of activity, one which the Labour-led council in York missed.
