LOOKING at the picture of Bootham Park Hospital (Letters, January 22), reminded me that this building is an excellent example of the work of the eminent 18th century architect John Carr (known as Carr of York).

As such it is an important part of this city’s architectural heritage, so it’s good to know that the female ward has recently been refurbished.

This building definitely deserves to be looked after.

Situated as it is, set well back from Bootham, it is easily overlooked and I would guess many visitors are unaware of its existence.
