I NOTE your article on the anti-fracking group protesting in Ryedale (The Press, January 14).
It is worth bringing to attention the fact that in the US, New York state has banned fracking for health reasons.
Pollutants that leak from wells have dangerous health implications according to the US report. A public health biologist says: “In densely populated regions, like the UK and New York, public health consequences are unavoidable.”
In drilling parlance, the well head operatives are known as mud-men. I can just imagine one mud man saying to another: “I say chaps, we seem to have a slight leak from our well, should we start waving our paper fans?”
In my opinion, a clean operation will never happen; New York state has come to the same conclusion.
