AFTER finding out about City of York Council’s plans to build six houses on a small piece of land in Pottery Lane, my son contacted Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for me.
The women he spoke to told him this land was green amenity land and the council shouldn’t be building on it.
This land is joined onto Heworth Golf Club and is a haven for wildlife, and many beautiful trees and shrubs.
I attended a meeting with the council and aired my concerns. They said they had the right to build on green amenity land for housing. Everything my son finds from the internet points to this not being so.
Can anyone help and give me further advice about this use of green amenity land?
