I’M sure that I cannot be the only member of a capacity audience who warmly applauded the young A Cappella group Renaissance last week at the Early Music festival, to be very disappointed by Martin Dreyer’s negative and casuistic review (The Press, December 12) of their concert.
He seems to think that many amateur groups could do much better, but I wonder how many of these have received an invitation to sing with the very prestigious Tallis Scholars at St John’s Smith Square this week and received the strong approbation of no less a figure than Peter Phillips, as Renaissance have done?
