THE “Sort out wastage” letter of December 15 was very revealing as to what is being proposed and is actually happening with regard to waste collection and recycling.

Paul Hepworth correctly says that correspondents in The Press should refrain from councillor-bashing on this subject. However, this should not stop the people of York letting their councillors know how they feel about this topic in good time before the debate, so that our representatives can judge the mood of residents.

Personally, my household produces very little waste and it would suit me to have fewer collections but many of my neighbours find that with even the current rate of collection, they cannot cope.

Don’t bash your councillor but do let your voice be heard and the letters page is an excellent medium for doing this.
