DOES anybody represent or care about the ordinary man and woman in this country anymore? It seems depressing, if this is the case, that we haven’t moved on with our class system.

After reading about Labour’s Emily Thornbury’s snide remarks about white flag, white van man in Rochester last week and the tirade of abuse from former Conservative cabinet member David Mellor to a London black cab driver this week, is this the real reflection of what the political London elite politicians think of us?

I am all for business – when it’s legal – but there is no protection now for working people. Who does represent them?

Shame on the Labour Party for not repealing some of the draconian labour and picketing laws while they were in power – and shame on most of the unions who have left the majority of their members with at least 20 per cent less income over the past six years, as the bankers and management take home millions.

Maybe this gross unfairness is one reason why our politicians are now going through a hard time by the electorate. The divide is getting even wider.
