BEFORE James Alexander rides away into the sunset, may I make the following suggestion.

Will he make a tour of his Holgate ward and make the following list for his successor, assuming there will be one.

He could make a list of the houses where hedges overhang footpaths causing an obstruction to pedestrians; a list of footpaths and roads that are cracked or subsiding, particularly Falconer Street, Beech Avenue and Collingwood Avenue.

There is a pothole in Falconer Street that has been there for months. The council came and marked a yellow ring round it some weeks ago and the only thing that has happened since is that the pothole has grown and the yellow ring has slowly disappeared. But even without its yellow ring, the council should have no problem finding it: it is the big hole in the road.

Possibly the remaining two Labour councillors in Holgate ward may get something done. James’s attention has been on other things.
