WE OFTEN read in the papers and see on the TV people complaining about stupid individuals out after dark, risking their life cycling with little or no lights.

Then you have the cyclists lit up like Christmas trees, often riding too fast for the conditions, weaving in and out of the traffic and thinking their illuminations make them invulnerable.

Thirdly you have the cyclists who have good lights but let coats or shopping obscure them.

We then have the cyclist who has good lights but puts them in the wrong place, say to the near side where the cycle obscures the light.

And then we have the cyclists who have good lights but the batteries are so under-powered they are as useful as a flickering candle. These cyclists think they’re lit up but they are not.
