ALISON Sinclair (Letters, November 15) advises Cllr Keith Aspden that getting a Local Plan in place is essential if valued buildings such as The Saddle, in Fulford, are to be protected.
I’m afraid this will fall on deaf ears where the Lib Dems are concerned for political reasons and political reasons alone.
In proposing annual housing numbers of 575 and no development on the draft Green Belt, they have signalled they wish to play no positive part in getting a Local Plan for York adopted.
It is sensible to suppose that they will hope the Tories come up with something more credible to get the Local Plan over the line and then attack them in the outer wards of the city for so doing.
Remember, this is the Lib Dems we are talking about.
If residents want to see such buildings protected and controls over where developments are to be built, then the best they can do is contact local Conservatives and press them to get a Local Plan agreed.
The alternative is uncontrolled development across the city’s draft Green Belt areas, plain and simple.
