NEVER one to let facts get in the way of a good rant, Terry Smith (Letters, October 22), tells us that his party will “scrap Labour’s Human Rights Act”.

This act was passed more than 60 years ago after being primarily drafted by the lawyer and Conservative politician David Maxwell Fyfe.

He was sponsored by a certain Winston Churchill, a prime ministerial colossus in comparison to the pip-squeak so obviously held in thrall by Terry.
