EVERY day alarming news arrives about serious problems caused by our open borders to other EU countries.

Our national debt is £1.4 trillion, we supposedly haven’t got anything in the kitty to give a cost-of-living increase to nurses and others, and the NHS is collapsing. Nothing in our political system is relevant if we cannot control immigration.

What arrogance for José Manuel Barroso, the outgoing federalist president of the EU bureaucracy, to tell this country we would be “irrelevant” if it wasn’t for the EU when we have saved Europe in two world wars.

After joining the EC (as it then was) they caused the demise of our fishing fleet. The only movement in Europe will be riots in the streets.

The EU has gone past its sell by date. Britain needs to be out of it and take on the world.
