ALTHOUGH I would normally agree with David Barton that remakes, whether in music, films or TV, never match up to the original (Dad’s Army – Sacrilege? Letters, October 20).
However, as an avid Dad’s Army fan, a few years ago I saw a production of the same at York Theatre Royal, starring Leslie Grantham as the spiv Walker.
Within minutes I stopped comparing the characters and settled down to a brilliant, well-acted performance.
Maybe it’s better to be open-minded sometimes.
