I WOULD like to thank all those volunteers from York Cares for their excellent work so far in transforming the play area at Foxwood Community Centre as part of the annual Big Community Challenge.
The work of York Cares volunteers elsewhere has been crucial in helping make these areas places the public want to spend time in, and this project is no different.
It is heartening to know that in York we have people working in day jobs yet who are willing to give up their spare time to offer something extra to communities across the city.
It is easy to underestimate how a pleasant area like the one being created by volunteers at Foxwood Community Centre can help residents find a moment of peace and enjoyment in their often busy everyday lives.
