IF Messrs Warters and Laverack want to make themselves look ridiculous by submitting their frivolous planning application for traveller accommodation on the West Offices site, so be it.
Why they think that wasting hard-pressed officers’ and council members’ time in such a manner is of public benefit is hard to understand, although not, perhaps, unexpected.
I have a much better idea.
Why not consider the open grassed area beside the church and community building in Rivelin Way in Rawcliffe? Ideally placed next to a children’s play area; close to the retail outlets on Clifton Moor; a short walk to the medical centre; near an excellent primary school; with good public transport links; a short distance away around Rawcliffe Lane for open areas to graze horses. What’s not to like?
I am at a loss to understand why this has not been put forward in the Local Plan proposals already. Perhaps the council can explain.
