AS A resident of Westfield, I am being bombarded with election literature from big parties with big budgets. Having limited funds, I am writing this letter to help voters understand why I am standing for the Green Party in the by-election on October 16 and to tell them a little about myself.
Brought up in York and having lived in the ward for 16 years, I have a lot of knowledge of the city and local issues. I previously volunteered for Homestart, a charity that helps families with young children, and taken part in large scale promenade theatre productions in York.
I have 12 years of experience of helping people cut their energy bills and insulate their houses though my role in Wakefield Council and have first-hand experience of the devastation caused by government cuts.
I am pleased to be standing for the only party sincerely opposed to the cuts in local services, that have constantly been eroded by successive governments. If elected I would work hard supporting local residents and representing their concerns within the council.
A vote for the Green Party helps local people, the community and the environment.
Alison Webb, Corlett Court, Foxwood, York.
