THANK you for printing so many sensible letters about the proposed traffic commission. Why do the council always go running to expensive consultancies when the answer is staring them in the face? If only they would listen to the public!

Apparently one of the councillors on the panel will be of the Green Party. Why is this, as by definition he will be against any measures to help the motorist?

We all know that increased use of public transport is the real answer but the public will not use buses “en masse” until they run on time, which they can’t do as they’re caught up in the same jams as the rest of us.

I hope and pray that the outcome of this debate isn’t yet more measures to try to get people on to pedal cycles. The priority must be to make the traffic flow, this can be easily achieved with the right attitude.

It would be too much to expect the council to switch the lights on to flashing amber or better still to use the “shuffle” system on the computer which has, to my knowledge, never been tried. But just as a sign of goodwill and to show us that this time they really do want to help, they could easily adjust all sets of lights to trigger at night, a few do but why not all? Every picture tells a story.
