WOW! Your front page piece of September 17 was really something: £86,000 to study the traffic congestion problem in York.

I’d have thought a quick snapshot traffic census and recalibrating the traffic lights would suffice.

And there’s some evidence that removing traffic lights altogether both reduces congestion and accident levels because drivers have to be cautious and considerate.

But I obviously don’t understand the complexities of the problem. Silly me.
