AS OF late your pages have been graced by many a letter bemoaning the prospect of neighbourhood development.
Since these letters seemed to originate from all points of the compass, I thought I would take a look at the latest local development framework for York.
I was amazed at the number of new houses that are being proposed. Why, when we have more bedrooms in this country than people, is there a housing shortage, especially when you consider that many people share a bed?
Why is it that so many older couples, once their loved ones have moved on to pastures new, are reluctant to downsize and forgo the treasured spare bedroom?
I have been pondering this and one reason is clear to me. If the ‘Council for the Protection of Rural England’ and other such organisations wish to stem the relentless spread of bricks and mortar then they should invest some of their wealth into finding a cure for snoring.
