I FAIL to understand/comprehend your inside page headline “Space needed for new homes” (The Press, September 9), when in fact it had nothing at all to do with what an average person would perceive as ‘homes’.

I think that the general view of a home is where people live to provide a roof over their head for themselves and their families. ‘Homes’ for businesses are normally called factories or offices.

Whilst I agree with the general gist of the content of the article that purports to suggest that new ‘homes are needed’, it is misleading in the fact that the article only promoted ‘homes’ for business.

The fact is that there is a major shortfall of housing (affordable or otherwise) in York for humans and surely businesses people will not set up business in York if the houses are not there to accommodate the potential work force. If people cannot find somewhere affordable to live why would they wish to set up a business or indeed to work in York?

Yes, let’s have more business but let’s have the houses first, not only to accommodate the people that set up businesses but also for the people that are going to work for those businesses.
