THE residents of Boroughbridge Road have endured for well over a year total disruption and upheaval during the Park & Ride road works (Balfour Beatty kept us regularly informed and thanked us for our co-operation).

A few days of normality at the end of July and then without warning or apology the Skelwith Group put us through the most horrendous din for four weeks while they demolished and cleared the Wills & Ellis site.

They are now submitting new plans for a two-storey drive-through McDonald's with more parking alongside the replacement mini market and petrol pumps. Local residents do not want a fast-food outlet on their doorstep and definitely not two storeys.

Neighbours tolerated the previous family-run business as it expanded on this site. We do not now want an assortment of commercial concerns in this residential area of 15 homes.

Local politicians do not seem to be interested what local residents say. Replacement mini-market and petrol pumps, please.
