I’VE just downloaded this brilliant ‘app’. You stand in the street and point your phone at a car. It takes two photos in quick succession. Using ‘APNR’ it gets the registration number and from the two photos calculates the speed.
GPS technology then allows it to work out where you are and the speed limit at that point. If the car is over the limit it calls up the local police headquarters and sends all the information directly. It’s all automatic. It’s awesome.
In line with current ‘best practice’, I am announcing where I will be deploying next week.
Tuesday – Hull Road, Wednesday – Huntington Road, Thursday – Taddy Road, all in York. I shall be wearing a yellow and red chevron hi-vis jacket. (I can’t afford a van).
Glyn Sunman, Deveron Way, York.
