WITH reference to The Press report on the “New ten-day comedy festival planned for York centre”, are we to assume that a contingent of councillors will appear centre stage based on Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, to bridge that gap in their finances?

However, for those council officials without any sense of humour, speaking from experience is no easy matter when it comes to having to face up to the age old quotation “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen” or is it council chamber?

Not withstanding that, unsavoury decisions have to be made regardless of affiliation to any political party when it comes to balancing the books.
