TO THOSE members of our council who voted against the immediate and automatic refund of all fines illegally imposed on innocent members of the public who crossed Lendal Bridge, I say: “hang your heads in shame”.
Since the fines have been illegally collected and retained by the council, in the absence of claims what happens to the balance of any unclaimed money? Since we are supposed to be promoting tourism and bringing more visitors to our beautiful city, I wonder what effect your actions will have had on encouraging them to return, if ever. What too will be the eventual cost to the council taxpayer?
Ian Collinson, Longridge Lane, Nether Poppleton, York.
