I AM delighted to give my old election running mate Nick Blitz the ten pounds for the bet regarding York’s old council offices. (Letters, August 27) But sorry, Nick, I only have that kind of cash in francs.
It is true what he says about the type of wealthy people who will buy the bijou flats and apartments, and who will require proper secure parking for their vehicles.
But is the lack of provision of those spaces part of the great Labour plan to keep motors out of the city?
If the council does allow the provision of the spaces, thus risking increasing the pollution levels again, does that mean that the great Lendal Bridge fiasco is on the cards again?
Maybe the council could keep all those yellow bicycles and give one to each of the new householders as a gesture of goodwill.
Phill Thomas, Brecksfields, Skelton, York.
