FURTHER to the Lendal Bridge fiasco, it has now been decided to pay back all the fines received.
City of York Council did not put up the cameras or do the administration for the collection of fines. It was a company in Northampton, I believe. So how much has this company charged for its services and how much is the York council taxpayer going to have to subsidise the repayment of those fines?
Also, last week The Press reported that the investor who was going to turn the old council offices into a hotel had dropped the plans. It wouldn’t have had anything to do with the traffic levels and air quality returning to St Leonard’s, would it?
But it is acceptable for private housing and, yes, it is a wonderful building, but those residents will have to keep their windows shut — as did the council.
