I ALREADY have to pay the considerable sum of £15,000 for a season ticket from York to London. I am now informed I must find more money to meet the average rail fare rise of 3.5 per cent.

I wonder how many passengers on our overcrowded trains are from the myriad of rail employees travelling unrestricted, free on “perks”, and what effect that has on prices and seat availability for the rest of us?
