SO THE council has decided at long last (after many meetings) to refund all the people who were fined for crossing Lendal Bridge during the ridiculous closure – but only if people send in a request to the council.
Why doesn’t the council just automatically reimburse them? The council has all their details or rather the company who dealt with initial fines does. Many of the fines were charged to tourists who are probably unlikely to follow City of York Council’s ramblings in The Press.
Maybe and automatic refund with an apology would be more gallant of them.
